Philosophers-asking-questions-meme

What's with all the questions? I can tell you: the question always precedes the answer! Banal? Yes, it is, but not if we apply it to science. It's probably the rarest case of scientists actually making discoveries, like Newton sitting under a tree with an apple falling on his head. It is much more a matter of first creating a theory, a creative act in itself, which then has to be validated. It may be an exaggeration to portray philosophy as the idea generator of science or even of mathematics, at least in modern times. Nevertheless, it can always force the thought that everything could also be different than assumed; it leaves the door gap to the doubt quasi always a little bit open. And that is a good thing, since this procedure protects against the effect of groupthink or also of jumping to conclusions.
