The term "philosophy" literally means "love of wisdom". In its broadest sense, philosophy is an activity that people engage in as they seek to understand fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they live (reality), and their relationships to the world and to each other. Those who study philosophy are continually engaged in asking, answering, and arguing their answers to the fundamental questions of life. To make this pursuit more systematic, academic philosophy has traditionally been divided into different disciplines.

But why is it that the question of what philosophy actually is keeps coming up? Of course, one can now simply enumerate all the subcategories, but then one still does not know more about philosophy as such. You can also read all the books shown in the meme and maybe you have learned a few definitions that are ready to speak. But the fact remains that philosophy, like no other academic science, is so busy with itself that it could also constantly add new definitions to itself. This, in turn, is something it has in common with art, which also rubs up against the status quo or perceived reality in order to constantly create something new. Therefore, we will never run out of answers to the question of what philosophy actually is.
